Road Safety
🛡️ Road Safety: A Shared Responsibility
🚦 Introduction
Road safety is not just a personal duty but a collective responsibility of drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and authorities. With the rise of electric mobility and large-scale rallies like the Bharat Maha EV Rally, it’s more important than ever to uphold safety standards for a secure and sustainable journey across India.
🎯 Objectives of Road Safety in EV Rally Context
Ensure the safety of all participants during long-distance EV travel.
Promote responsible driving practices.
Educate the public on safe road behavior.
Support zero-accident goals aligned with India’s road safety mission.
🛣️ Key Principles of Road Safety
1. Follow Traffic Rules Strictly
Obey speed limits, road signs, and traffic signals.
Avoid overtaking in blind spots or at curves.
Use proper indicators and headlights, especially at night or in low visibility.
2. Wear Safety Gear
Helmets for two-wheeler riders.
Seat belts for all car occupants—front and rear.
Reflective jackets for rally volunteers and night-time workers.
3. Don’t Drive Under Influence
Never consume alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs focus or reaction while driving.
4. Avoid Distractions
No mobile phone use while driving.
Keep focus on the road and surroundings.
Use hands-free systems if communication is necessary.
5. Regular Vehicle Checks
Ensure EVs are charged properly and brakes, tires, lights, and indicators are fully functional.
Carry a basic emergency kit (first-aid, fire extinguisher, etc.).
6. Emergency Preparedness
Know emergency contacts and nearby service stations.
Use the rally’s emergency response system when needed.
Mark accident-prone zones and rest points in the route map.
🌱 Sustainable & Safe Driving Tips for EVs
Avoid sudden acceleration or braking.
Use regenerative braking where possible.
